In contrast to the many jewelry importers and mass market chain type businesses selling jewelry today Keiden Designs is an artisan business. I personally design and assemble each jewelry piece in a private studio in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Artisan is defined as follows: “An artisan is a skilled manual worker who crafts items that may be functional or strictly decorative including furniture, clothing, jewelry, household items, and tools. Manufacture by hand and with hand tools imparts unique and individual qualities to artisanal products, in contrast to mass produced goods where every one is nearly identical. Artisans traditionally work in media such as wood, ceramics, glass, common and precious metals, basketry, textiles and leather.”
So really the difference is an item being unique and ‘one of a kind’ verses many duplicate products. This requires a constant search for special and unique components. The objective is to make handcrafted artisanal jewelry from only the finest and often unusual materials. You personally select your jewelry so it should reflect who you are. You are a unique individual and your jewelry should be also.
Working with texture, colors and shapes that can be combined to form that special one of a kind jewelry piece is a creative process that inspires me each day. Making jewelry is a career I am passionate about and knowing that others also enjoy the results of my efforts is most gratifying. I take great pride in my work and design and assemble each creation as though it were to become my own and many have.
You may see some similarities from one piece to another however you will not find duplicates of the items sold here. Many of the dichroic glass and PMC pendants used in my designs are molded and fused right here in the studio. It is this combination of originality, quality and uniqueness that assures you that Keiden Designs products have unique individual qualities and are one of a kind.
